Maternity Bereavement Service

Sadly, pregnancy does not always end with a happy outcome and families do experience late miscarriage, stillbirth or early neonatal deaths.

All the staff, across the Maternity Service, are committed to helping you make lasting memories for your baby during the short time you may have with them.

The Maternity Service at the Trust also has a Bereavement Midwife available to support your family through these difficult times. They offer you a single point of contact for any questions and concerns you may have about the care you have received, and they can also provide you with information about counselling services and other support available to you.

The Maternity Service works to the standards outlined by MBRRACE, a national organisation that ensures incidents where babies die are investigated in the same way across the UK; and follow the Regional Bereavement Pathways to ensure that we find as many answers as possible for your family. The process can take 10-12 weeks and sometimes longer when specialist reports are required. The Bereavement Midwife is available to support you throughout this time.

The Bereavement Midwife works Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm and can be contacted on:

Mobile 07909002712

Please note that there may be several days before a call is returned when the Bereavement Midwife is on leave. However, they will always return calls on the next working day.
