Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) celebrated and shared good practice with health and social care colleagues across Wigan and beyond, with our ninth annual Continuous Improvement Conference 2024.
Continuous Improvement is an integral part of WWL, built on year on year and is a majoy part of our future. Established in 2012, when former WWL CEO, Andrew Foster, introduced a WWL Quality Champions programme and we hosted our very first Continuous Improvement conference in 2016, Andrew’s legacy has ensured that Continuous Improvement remains at the top of WWL’s objectives and has given us strong foundations of ensuring that quality is at the heart of everything we do.
It was a fantastic event, with a range of presentations from WWL staff members on the improvement work they have been carrying out across the Trust over the past 12 months. Over 20 awards were handed out for those who had completed their Silver, Gold and Platinum projects and we also heard about the national and local picture of embedding continuous improvement.
Head of Continuous Improvement, Kayleigh Barnett, said: "We were thrilled with how well the conference went this year. We have really built on last year's success, and provided some thought provoking challenge to the system, as well as some ideas for growth. We were especially pleased to see immediate actions based off our incredibly powerful patient story from one of Lived Experience Partners, Jessie, who was talking about the Otis' Voice project; sensory rooms are already being improved at sites simply from this one presentation. We’ve really enjoyed collating and hosting the conference, and hope that people who attended had a great day of thinking differently."
Continuous Improvement is so important for us to improve the care we provide to our patients, while looking after each other.
