Dr Baron gained her medical degree from University of Birmingham , qualifying in 2006. After completing her first year as a junior doctor in the West Midlands she moved back to the North West to be closer to family. She went on to specialise in Palliative Medicine, acquiring her Certificate for Completion of Training (CCT) in 2016 and was appointed as Consultant in Palliative Medicine soon afterwards.
Dr Baron works both with the hospital Supportive and Palliative Care Team and also on the in-patient unit at Wigan and Leigh Hospice. Her particular interests include palliative and supportive care for patients with dementia and chronic non-malignant respiratory disease. She runs a specialist clinic alongside Dr Ashish, Respiratory Consultant, for Patients with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Dr Baron has a keen interest in education and has a Post-graduate Certificate in Education. She has roles as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for trainee Doctors.
Dr Baron has recently taken on an additional role in the trust as a Medical Examiner and is also the Honorary Secretary for the Association for Palliative Medicine (for 3 years from 2019).
