Pelvic, Acetabular and Young Adult Hip Service
OVERVIEW:
The North West Pelvic Acetabular and Young Adult Hip Service at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides advice to hospitals throughout the North West of England and North Wales on patients who have sustained complex fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum. Patients with these injuries requiring surgery are transferred to either Royal Albert Edward Infirmary or Wrightington Hospital. In addition to pelvic fracture patients referred by Consultant colleagues, General Practitioners and Physiotherapists can refer patients to the service for the assessment and treatment of Young Adult Hip pain (below 50yrs of age).
- The Team
The service is provided by three Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Mr Tony Clayson, Mr Nikhil Shah and Mr Henry Wynn-Jones. They are supported by highly skilled nursing and physiotherapy teams at RAEI and Wrightington who have developed unique expertise in caring for patients with these specialised problems of the hip and pelvis. All three Consultants also provide a lower limb service including primary and revision replacement surgery of the hip and knee.
