OVERVIEW:
The Business Intelligence Department provides a corporate and divisional view on patient activity data and differs from the Clinical Informatics Department in so far as Clinical Informatics provides analysis services supporting clinical audit and effectiveness.
- About Us
The Business Intelligence Department main functions are:
- to manage and provide a high quality training service in the use of the Trust’s Patient Administration System (PAS)
- to ensure the quality of the data on the PAS through both audit and training and also to oversee the implementation of good practice information governance around the management and use of other key Trust systems
- to provide information for a range of requirements both within and outside the Trust
The Department is made up of three sections:
- PAS Department
- Registration Authority Team
- Analysis Department
A main focus of the Department is to ensure that the Trust is able to identify and record patient activities that are required to support the payment of income due to the Trust from commissioners under the Payment by Results system of re-imbursement. All strands of the Department contribute to this; from accurate and timely collection via the PAS, to complex data analysis routines within the Analysis Department. The CID also manages the flows of external data to national databases.
