Alcohol Services
OVERVIEW:
The WWL Alcohol Specialist Nurse team is based at the Royal Albert Edward (Wigan) Infirmary. We are a key strand of the Borough’s alcohol strategy and integral to helping achieve its target of reducing alcohol related hospital admissions.
- What is the Alcohol Specialist Nurse Service?
The service provides support to the people of the Wigan Borough who are admitted to the Royal Albert Edward (Wigan) Infirmary and who have been identified to be drinking alcohol to increasing, higher risk or dependent levels.
We aim to provide high quality care to patients who are receiving support for their alcohol use and ensure appropriate aftercare support is arranged in the community on discharge from hospital.
- Who is the service for?
The Alcohol Specialist Nurse Service at WWL only accepts referrals for inpatients at RAEI aged 16 years and over.
- Service Hours
The service hours are 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
