The Tissue Viability Service provides specialist and expert advice to staff who are caring for patients with complex or non-healing wounds.
- About Us
The Tissue Viability Service is an integrated service providing specialist advice and support to both acute and community services within Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The service also provides advice and support to other services within the borough such as Wigan & Leigh Hospice, nursing homes and intermediate care centres. The Tissue Viability Service is committed to ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost effective care to all patients by developing and sustaining evidence based care in relation to wounds, this includes; leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma wounds etc.
- Education
The Tissue Viability Service offers education to all staff within Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the borough wide services it covers, to support evidence based practice and continuity of care to patients with wounds.
- How to access the service?
Referrals are accepted from multiple sources. Hospital referrals are made via the hospital system (HIS) and community referrals are accepted via an online referral form (available via the intranet or on request). These are to be completed by the health care professional overseeing the patient's care.
