What are the Benefits of Membership
As a member, you will play a vital role within Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust. You have a real voice in how the Trust is run and how it will grow and develop in the future.
Our Members represent the different groups of people who we are accountable to and through their elected Governors for their constituencies. Members have the opportunity to help us shape our strategies and future plans.
Whilst Membership is an important role in supporting the Trust, it is not time consuming. Members can take as little or as much involvement within the trust as they like. As a member, you will receive regular updates on the work of the Trust including recent developments via our Members Newsletter with various links to interesting news and sections of the Trust website.
You can find out more about the Trust performance throughout the year and listen to keynote speakers present on a variety of topics if you choose to attend our Annual Public Meeting, other membership members events or our Council of Governor meetings.
Our members support the work of the Trust by:
Contributing to, supporting and influencing the work of Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust
Receiving information about the hospital throughout the year
Being consulted on and feeding into the activities of the Council of Governors
Voting in elections for the Council of Governors
Attending meetings of the Council of Governors

Becoming part of the Lay Reader panel – helping to improve our hospital publications by proof reading hospital information documents/publications, commenting and advising on hospital publications before distribution
Becoming part of our Patient Reference Panel – Take part in surveys or sit in discussion groups around specific topics such as Stoke services, Cancer services and Children services for future implications and improvements to services.
