Ashton Clinical Research Hub

The Clinical Research Hub is centrally located covering a wider area across the Wigan Borough. It was established in 2023 in the heart of the community of Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, on the North West side of Greater Manchester, situated within easy access of the M6 motorway (Haydock Racecourse J23 M6).

Offers more opportunities to integrate with the Healthier Wigan Partnership (health and care providers across primary, community, mental health, social care, and secondary and specialist care) and schools.

Research can be delivered at the hub in partnership with the other care providers and is supported by a Research Delivery Team who work across all hospital and community sites in the Trust across the Wigan Borough.

The WWL R&D team aims to support future collaborations with General Practitioners and to the commercial trials industry, providing space dedicated to research for all and delivered closer to our patients homes and outside a busy hospital environment. It includes space for visiting Principal Investigators to deliver studies in the community alongside WWL’s research delivery staff.

The Hub will offer more opportunities for our community to receive novel treatments and care locally reaching groups who may be excluded otherwise.
